Dr. Al-Swailem has a long experience in higher education with interest in the areas of strategic planning, academic development & leadership, assessment and accreditation, and others. He supervised and participated in many projects to develop long and short-term strategic plans for ministries, universities, and other institutions. In addition, he participated in many key studies and national reports related to higher education, such as; policies, governance, internationalization, quality assurance, alignment to the job market, enhancing efficiency, and improving performance.
He held several leadership positions at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) including; Dean of Admission & Registration, Dean of Engineering, and Dean of Faculty and Personnel Affairs.He was also the former Director of Academic Leadership Center at the Ministry of Education where he contributed to the development of academic leaders at Saudi Universities through the design, implementation, and assessment of training workshops and programs. In addition, he participated and delivered many professional and developmental seminars, training workshops, and forums.
Dr. Al-Swailem provided consultations to several institutions including The Ministry of education, Saudi universities, The Education & Training Evaluation Commission, non-for-profit organizations, and others. He also chaired and participated in many teams, taskforces, committees, boards, and professional associations.
He participated in the Intensive Advanced Leadership Program at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering from University of Missouri- Columbia, USA and MS, BS from KFUPM, Saudi Arabia.
